Legends of Chgoland M/C Racing Brunch Part 2

In second half of this annual event features the special guest, Gary Nixon. Gary was two time AMA National Champion 1967 and 1968. He was the first rider to capture this championship for Triumph Motorcycles. While being interviewed, he tell about his racing career and his living in Chicago from 1960 through 1966 as he raced at Santa Fe Speedway every Wednesday night throughout the summers. Pictures and a video clip complete this show.

With radio personality, Kris TigerLady, we travel just 4 miles south of North Judson, Indiana to check out the World of Motorcycles Museum at Kersting's Harley-Davidson, Yamaha & Kawasaki. After checking out the inside of this museum, Jim & Randy Kersting, Kris and I ride some of these old bikes. 1965 DKW 50cc, 1934 BMW 250, 1937 Harley, 1914 Harley board track racer, and the 1910 Harley in original condition. I get to ride with bike with the TEAM CHICAGO HELMET CAMERA, so come along in enjoy the thrill.

AHRMA National Peoria '01

At the Peoria Motorcycle Club Clubgrounds just west of Peoria, Illinois, we start the day looking at the vintage trials event. Then the action begins on the world famous TT track. Looking at the '60's Classic and 250 Classic heating races, we talk to the owner of a great looking '74 flattracker from California. the final events covered include; Dino Class, Plus 50, Seventy Singles and Plus 60 Class. The feature black and white film from the 1948 National is included.

Summer Bummer Enduro

Riding a borrowed Kawasaki KDX-200 for Stevo of Xtreme Motorsports, I ride this mid-summer AMA enduro. Held in Roselawn, Indiana, this race is held by the Hill and Gully Riders. We ride the event with the Team Chicago Helmet-Camera and listen to comments from some of the 170 riders that met this off-road challenge.

This is the 22nd TOYS FOR TOTS Motorcycle Parade held entirely in the City of Chicago. Starting on the southside at 87th Street, the parade travels north on Western Avenue ( the longest street in Chicago). Over 25,000 motorcyclists participated, making this the largest motorcycle parade in America. We meet some of the riders and watch the collection of toys at the U.S. Marine Corp. Center on Foster Avenue.

The RACE Part 2

The Final event of the Parts Unlimited Off-Road Championship takes place on Sunday at the Bike Barn. Over 130 riders in 8 classes take the four wave start. As these riders challenge the two fifty mile loops of this one-hundred mile race, the Bill Gusse Helmet Camera shows tight action as Bill follows Gary Gibbs of MOOSE Off-Road Products in a high speed duel. At the end, we show some of the top ten racers flash across water and fields in Western Illinois.

The RACE Part 1

Just south of Morrison, Illinois, the Saturday off-road event takes place at the Bike Barn. We watch the action in the 50cc and 65cc-100cc classes. Just east of Talladega, Alabama is the newly paved 1.3 mile roadcourse called the Talladega GP Track. This is the site of the 6-Hour WERA National Endurance sponsored by GMD Computrack. A brief rain shower came before the start but stopped. The teams had to start on a wet track. As the teams carefully race this wet track, we travel to Hammond, Indiana for the 'Open House' at Xtreme Motorsports. Team Chicago has its own 'Open House' as Steve Karson opens the box of boots and gloves from ALPINESTAR. Coverage continues through the 4th hour with Helmet Camera footage and the action in the pits.

First we travel to North Judson, Indiana to Kersting’s Motorcycle Dealers and Museum to ride the brand new 1999 Excelsior Henderson. Then at the Field Museum in Chicago I video tape and comment my ten favorite motorcycles in the ART OF THE MOTORCYCLE. We return to Kersting’s to ride a 1948 Ariel Four Square.
