Video
A very nice video of the Southern
Imperial Meet, which took place on 1 May
1999, is now available.
This video is 27 minutes of all the cars
at the meet, including several interviews of owners describing their cars.
These interviews include
Christopher Conway's '78 New Yorker Brougham, my own '71 Imperial LeBaron,
and Cecil McCall's '64 Ghia Crown Imperial limousine.
Many thanks to my friend Joel, who did an *excellent* job of taping this
event, and then producing a video which is informative and of high
quality.
This video is available for $12 (including postage) from Joel Yelich at
<vidsal@execpc.com>. Also be sure to visit Joel's Video Salvage page
at http://www.execpc.com/~vidsal/.
Thanks!

Meet Announcement
Date: Mon, 03 Apr 2000
From:Elijah Scott <escott@mail.gcsu.edu>
Hi Everyone!
If you're like me, you're a bit jealous of our Imperial buddies on the
West Coast who get to attend the California Imperial Statewide Meet each
year.
However, everyone who's willing and able to drive to Atlanta, GA, can get
their own Imperial fix at this year's Southern IML Meet! It's that time of
year again -- shine up your Imperial and get ready to head to Atlanta.
What: Southern IML Meet
Where: Atlanta, GA -- Southern Center for International Studies (driving
directions available at http://library.gcsu.edu/~elijah/imperial/Directions.html)
When: Saturday, 20 May 2000
Who: EVERYONE!
This will be the fourth meet that we've organized in Atlanta. The first
was something of an impromptu gathering in spring 1998, followed by a more
organized meet that fall. The fall meet was really great -- over 17
Imperials in attendance, ranging from a 1962 Crown Convertible to a 1981
Imperial, and including an example of every body style from the 1964-1966
era (Crown Coupe, Crown Convertible, Crown 4-door, LeBaron 4-door, and
Ghia Limousine). Our third meet was held 1 May 1999 and was fantastic (I
even got to ride in a '64 Ghia Crown Imperial!!!).
We've gained a number of new members in the Southeast over the past few
months, so I think this meet will be even better!
This meet will NOT be a formal or judged show. Instead, it will be a
gathering of Imperials, their owners, and anyone (with or without an
Imperial!) who enjoys these cars! All Imperials are welcome -- we don't
stand around and nitpick at anyone's imperfections, but instead share
experiences, information, knowledge, and the general enjoyment of the
Imperial experience. This meet is a GREAT chance to meet your fellow
IML'ers and the cars that you read about each day.
There is also no cost for this event. Light refreshments (soft drinks,
chips, etc.) will be provided. Donations will GRATEFULLY be accepted at
the event to both cover costs of refreshments AND to send to Manuel
Alvarez in support of the IML web server, so this will be a chance to
support your club financially as well.
More specific details on this meet will be forthcoming, but please mark
your calendars now! The festivities should begin around noon and last
until????
So change that oil, lube up those door hinges, and bring your Imperial to
the Southern IML meet!
Please RSVP to me at escott@mail.gcsu.edu,
so that we can have an idea of what sort of crowd to plan for. I will also
periodically update this announcement with more specific information as
well as a list of Imperials to be in attendance.
PLEASE NOTE -- I also need about three volunteers to assist in
preparations for the meet. Volunteer work will consist mostly of arranging
refreshments, greeting cars/drivers as they arrive, and assisting with
parking. Please reply to me privately if you'd like to help.
Imperially,
Elijah
